Gameweek 23 Preview

We’re going to be writing a weekly post about the game with a look at the best players for the upcoming matches, big trades from our league, and undervalued players that you might be able to get your hands on.

GW23 Picks

Goalkeeper: Myhill

Defence: Dawson, Baines, Daniels

Midfield: Barkley, Sanchez, Eriksen, Silva

Attack: Lukaku, Ighalo, Kane

Bench: Janmaat, Ozil, Aguero

We’re backing the West Brom defence this week. Tony Pulis teams are always good for a clean sheet and they have the best game of the weekend playing Aston Villa at home in the local derby. We’ve also gone heavily on Spurs and Everton players. Everton have been scoring consistently all year long and they have a home game against Swansea will only confirm that. Swansea have had a decent defensive record recently so we could be proven wrong.

Perhaps the biggest shock in our team is Aguero on the bench. It’s not that we don’t love him, we do. But City do seem to come undone when playing away from home. So Lukaku, Ighalo, and Kane edge him out the team this weekend.

Of course, if you’re lucky enough to own the magical Argentine in Draft this weekend, you should be playing him!

Undervalued Players

Draft fantasy football is all about finding those hidden gems that people haven’t yet picked up on yet. All the big name players are taken, but there are always hidden gems to be found. Charlie Daniels is one of those men. He’s managed to rack up 70 points this season with 2 goals, 3 assists, and 5 clean sheets. There’ll be many leagues with Daniels as an unpicked player. He’s on penalties and his next game is against Sunderland who have conceded a massive 9 penalties this season. That’s more than any other team in the Premier League. He could well be in line for another goal and clean sheet.

Enner Valencia. It’s tough to find good strikers in draft. Valencia has two goals and an assist in the last 3 weeks contributing to 50% of West Ham’s goal. He could be a good option if you’re struggling up front and he might still be unowned. One downside of getting him now is that West Ham play Man City this weekend.

New arrivals

Charlie Austin is the big new name in the Premier League this week. He’ll be coming off the waiver wire on Friday morning. He scored 18 goals in 35 Premiership appearances for QPR last season. He should be leading the Southampton frontline and is definitely a player to get on your team if you can snag him off the waiver wire.

Trade Of The Week

Deulofeu for Pedro

This was an interesting trade that went through this week. Deulofeu was dropped for the last Everton game playing just 11 minutes as a substitute. The Spaniard’s record for this season has been pretty decent with 2 goals and 9 assists to his name so far. Everton have some really nice fixtures coming up too with Swansea and Newcastle at home in their next two games.

Pedro has only gotten 3 goals and 2 assists for the season. His game time has been pretty consistent, although that may be set to change with Eden Hazard returning from injury. His fixtures don’t look too good either with Arsenal and Watford away in the next two games, followed up by Man United at home. Chelsea have been looking better since Mourinho was sacked and they have been scoring far more. If Pedro can get in on the action, this could a shrewd trade indeed.

For now it looks like Deulofeu was the better side of this trade.

Good luck with your Draft Fantasy Football team this weekend!
